The Long Wait for the First Shot* 

Kareena Kapoor recently shared that her debut was filled with nervous excitement, mainly because of how long she had to wait to shoot her first scene. "I remember waiting all day and night for my first shot,” she said in an interview. “I was eager and a bit anxious because it was my debut, and I wanted to make a great first impression."

She recalled that the shoot was delayed due to various reasons, including technical and logistical issues. Kareena was prepared early in the day, excited to begin her Bollywood journey, but the delay stretched well into the night. “At 3:45 am, they finally said the shot is ready,” Kareena added. “I had been waiting since morning, and by that time, I was exhausted but ready to give my best.”

Once the shot was ready, Kareena was asked to deliver her lines and perform her scene. Despite being tired after the long wait, she gave it her all. Much to her surprise, she was told that the take was perfect and that they didn’t need a second one.

“I thought I would get to do more takes since it was my first time in front of the camera, but J.P. Dutta said one take was enough,” she recalled with pride. “That boosted my confidence, and I felt I was truly ready for the world of cinema.”

For a newcomer like Kareena, having a director like J.P. Dutta express confidence in her performance with just one take was a massive vote of approval. It also set the tone for her career, where she would go on to work with some of the biggest directors and deliver numerous iconic performances.
