Sidelined by Injury: Dominik Mysterio Takes a Break from WWE

Fans of "The SmackDown Superstar" Dominik Mysterio were surprised to see him sporting a sling on the latest episode of Monday Night Raw.  Adding fuel to the fire, it appears this is a legitimate injury that's put Mysterio on the shelf.

The news broke thanks to Fightful Select, a subscription-based wrestling news service known for its insider reports [Fightful Select]. According to Fightful, Mysterio was originally scheduled for the company's post-WrestleMania European tour, which wrapped up this past weekend in Belfast, Ireland. However, he was replaced at the last minute by Ricochet.

On Raw, the storyline explanation for Mysterio's absence unfolded as JD McDonagh filled in for him in a tag team match alongside Santos Escobar of Legado del Fantasma. Their opponents? None other than Ricochet, Mysterio's replacement on the tour, teaming with Andrade.

While the exact nature and severity of Mysterio's injury haven't been disclosed, Fightful reports it's legit and there's no word yet on when he'll be back in action.  Mysterio's last appearance in the ring came on the previous week's Raw, where he was defeated by Andrade.

This unexpected turn of events disrupts the momentum Mysterio had been building as part of the Judgment Day stable.  The group, consisting of Mysterio, Edge, and Rhea Ripley, has been a prominent force on WWE programming since its June 2022 inception.  Mysterio's absence creates a question mark about how Judgment Day will function in his absence.

Here are some possible scenarios for how WWE might handle this situation:

* **Written Out with Storyline Injury:** WWE could write Mysterio's injury into the storyline. Perhaps an attack by a rival faction explains his absence and sets up a future feud for his return.

* **Replaced within Judgment Day:**  Another superstar could take Mysterio's place temporarily within Judgment Day. This could lead to interesting dynamics within the group, potentially planting seeds for future rivalries or betrayal.

* **Judgment Day Goes on Hiatus:** With one-third of the group sidelined, WWE might decide to temporarily sideline the entire Judgment Day stable. This would allow Mysterio time to heal while keeping the group fresh for their eventual return.

Dominik Mysterio has carved a niche for himself in the wrestling world.  The son of legendary Rey Mysterio, Dominik has emerged from his father's shadow to establish himself as a talented performer in his own right.  His recent alliance with Edge and Rhea Ripley in Judgment Day has only heightened his profile.

Fans will undoubtedly be eager for any updates on Mysterio's condition and his projected return date.  In the meantime, speculation will run wild about how WWE will handle his absence and how Judgment Day will move forward.  One thing's for sure: Dominik Mysterio's injury throws a wrench into the plans for both the superstar himself and the Judgment Day stable.
